Elounda Palm Hotel and Suites

Elounda Palm Hotel and Suites was born from the passion of two people who wanted to bring together the Cretan hospitality and the joy of meeting new people under one roof. The perfect stay when visiting Elounda, on the Island of Crete.

Elounda Palm Hotel and Suits is a small family-owned boutique hotel on Crete, overlooking the bay Elounda and its historic island of Spinalonga. A fantastic place with such hospitality. Fell in love with their eye for details and the ability to make it feel like a home.

Location
Located about 2 km from the small town of Elounda, and about 7 km from the bigger city Agios Nicholaos, the hotel makes the perfect location for an adventurous getaway. The drive from the airport is about 1 hour and cost around 100 Euro.

The hotel is however not located right by the water, which in my opinion is the only downside. Nevertheless, it is only about a 20 minute walk from the Elounda, where you can access Elounda beach. With a car or scooter it is just minutes away, and I truly recommend hiring either (we hired scooters through the hotel). That way you get to explore different beaches every day if you prefer and head into Agios Nicholaos. You can easily park at the hotel.

Room types
There are different types of rooms, with different price ranges to choose when booking your stay, the junior suites with private pools, being the most attractive ones. All rooms have a simple, authentic Greek style and offers all that you need - from fridge and a safe, to air condition and comfortable beds. And most importantly, they are very clean and roomservice is also an option.

Restaurants
The hotels main restaurant, where the breakfast buffet and dinner in the evening is served, is beautifully located next to the pool. The buffet is a classical Greek one with lots of fresh fruits, egg and bacon, bread and oats. The only downside is that it was the same everyday, in addition to no fresh juice or coffee. But, fresh fruit and a croissant is all I need so I didn’t really mind.

By the poolside they have two recently renovated additions, the Mellow Bar and Dacos Restaurant, focusing on creative ‘Cretan’ spirit and herb mixes. This was definitely what my boyfriend and I enjoyed the most! So much delicious Greek dishes - I think I never had that much greek salad and tzatziki in my life! The days we spent by the poolside we also ordered some delicious juices (really fresh and well made) and a decent cappuccino! So this is where they were hiding the good stuff!

In the evenings before heading out for dinner, we usually sat down for a drink. They had a good variety and the Pimm`s naturally caught my eye. The drinks always came with a serving of snacks (which made the snacker in me very happy).

Rest of the facility
The hotel offers a quiet and relaxed pool area, and not once was there lack of sunbeds (a common stress factor when on holiday). Even though it was several families with both babies and younger children, the overall vibe was very calm and relaxed.

The hotel also has a herbal garden, which is beautiful to see and a newly renovated wellness and spa department. The gym is moderate, but enough to get in a decent workout if you prefer. The only downside is that it is located in one big room, together with the spa reception so if you are shy you just got to get over it.

The spa department is beautiful and offers a range of treatments to what I would say is a very good price compared to a lot of other hotels we have stayed at. The perfect place to unwind after having been out exploring the island of Crete.

Overall impression
In my opinion Elounda Palm Hotel and Suites is the perfect place for couples or families who want to unwind in quiet and beautiful surroundings. The authenticity and hospitality was also one of the best experienced in Greece so far, actually so much we plan to go back.

If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment or make sure to pop on in to their website here.
